Gallipoli Departures escorted & guided by Lt.Col Peter Sweeney have amended costs, due to the decline in the rate of exchange between the Australian and US Dollar since the Gallipoli programme was costed back in July 2014 up until 2nd February 2015. This applies to both the July & October 2015 departures. The new cost for the Land Only on both departures is now AUD 3,850.00 per person share twin. With a single supplement of AUD 575.00 for a sole use room. Airfares are additional to the Land cost and we have many discounted fares available on first class carriers ex Australia to suit your home uplift port and possible stop off ports enroute to or from Turkey and beyond.

July 2015

Day 1 – Friday 17th July:
Ex Sydney and East Coast ports to Istanbul via Singapore Airlines flight SQ241 (various other flight numbers ex other Capital cities), SYD/SIN, ETD 18:00 / ETA 00:20 + 1 day. Connect to SQ392, ETD 01:45.

Day 2 – Saturday 18th July:
Arrive Istanbul ETA 07:45. Meet & Greet and transfer to “Ramada Atakoy Hotel”. Remainder of morning free. PM Tour Turkish Military Museum to view Gallipoli exhibit + cruise on the Bosphorus + welcome dinner Turkish-style. Overnight Istanbul (B/D).

Day 3 – Sunday 19th July:
Istanbul – AM sightseeing – Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, St. Sophia’s, Cistern, Topkapi Palace – all areas, Grand Bazaar. Overnight Istanbul. (B)

Day 4 – Monday 20th July:
Istanbul-Gallipoli – By road via Sea of Marmara + Straits of the Dardanelles. Late pm arrival – remainder of afternoon free until dinner. Overnight “Kolin Hotel Canakkale (4 star). (B/D)

Day 5 – Tuesday 21st July:
Gallipoli – Full day on the battlefields, North Beach, Ari Burna, Anzac Cove, Hell Spit, Shrapnel Valley, Plugges Plateau Cemetery, Brighton Beach. Overnight “Kolin Hotel”. (B/L/D)

Day 6 – Wednesday 22nd Jul:
Gallipoli – Another full day on the battlefields, Artillery Road, Lone Pine, Johnston’s Jolly, Quinns Post, Turkish Memorial, The Nek, Walkers Ridge, Lookout over North Beach, Chunnuk Bair. Overnight “Kolin Hotel”. (B/L/D)

Day 7 – Thursday 23rd Jul:
Gallipoli/Cape Helles – AM visit Gaba Tepe Museum, the south to Cape Helles – Kilitahir Fort, Cpl. Soyit Memorial, Seddulbahir Fort, V Beach + other four if time permits (XYWS), Lt Col Doughty-Wylie VC grave, Helles Memorial, Redoubt Cemetery, Canakkale Sehiteri Aniti, Morto Bay – French cemetery, Krithia battleground. Overnight “Kolin Hotel”. (B/L/D)

Day 8 – Friday 24th July:
Finish off Cape Helles/Krithia area, then drive north to Suvla Bay, the scene of many missed opportunities during August 1915. Overnight “Kolin Hotel”. (B/L/D)

Day 9 – Saturday 25th July:
Gallipoli/Istanbul – By road, with late pm arrival and return to the “Ramada Atakoy Hotel” (4 star). Farewell dinner this evening. Overnight Istanbul. (B/D only)

Day 10 – Sunday 26th July:
After breakfast, depart Istanbul – mid AM transfer out to Istanbul airport to connect with Singapore Airlines flight SQ391, ETD 13:25 / ETA 05:00 Singapore (+ 1 day).

Day 11 – Monday 27th July:
Connect Singapore/Sydney (or other East Coast cities), ETD 07:05 / ETA 16:45.

PS: An optional extension for six (6) nights & seven (7) days is available on request to visit Kusadasi, Ephesus, Pamukkale, Konya, Cappadocia – just ask at time of your enquiry to join the base tour to the battlefields of the Gallipoli peninsular. If you wish to break your journey on the way home in Singapore this is a possibility, as part of your return airfare, it adds AU$ 55.00 to your taxes & fuel surcharges. Of course accommodation and transfers if you elect to stop-over in Singapore are additional to the base cost of your journey to Turkey.

Gallipoli Programme Inclusions:

Exclusions:

  • Items of a personal nature, (i.e.) room service, telephone, laundry, internet use.
  • Gratuities to local guides and drivers and general staff in hotels (i.e) porters etc.
  • Cost of travel documentation – i.e. passport issue and Turkish visa as issued via http://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/apply/ current cost for AU passports USD 60.00 per person.
  • Any services not detailed in the itinerary such as extra meals, tours etc.
  • Your return airfare is a separate cost please refer to the details under the heading “Airfare” as it appears below. Each home port has slightly different taxes the airfare cost is based on a traveller departing the gateway of Sydney.

Land Cost(s):

  • July departure, based on two travellers sharing at a cost of AU$ 3,410.00 per person share twin.
  • October departure based on two travellers sharing at a cost of AU$ 3,386.00 per person share twin.
  • If a Single room (sole use) is required the additional cost is AU$ 590.00

Airfare(s):

  • July is peak European travel season therefore the base airfare is more expensive than that in October. Cost as at 30th June 14 is AU$ 2,649.00 per person inclusive of all current port taxes and fuel surcharges.
  • October base airfare is AU$ 2,210.00 per person as at 30th June, 14, inclusive of all current port taxes and fuel surcharges.
  • If a traveller elects to break their return journey in Singapore en-route home the added taxes currently for for such a stop is an extra AU$ 55.00 per person.
  • NB: Airlines and governments tend to add taxes and fuel surcharges with little warning, all the above fares are subject to the applicable taxes in force as at the time of selected travel be it July or October.
